REMEDIATION OF THE CONTAMINATION.
ANSWER:
THE TOTAL PETROLEUM HYDROCARBON (TPH)
THAT IS REQUIRED BY THE EPA OR LOCAL
GOVERNMENT AGENTS. THE AHPSP CAN LOWER THE TPH
TO NEAR ZERO, IF REQUIRED
STEP 1. TREATMENT
OF SOILS OR WATERS: FOR SOIL, USE ONE
CUBIC FOOT OF THE CONTAMINATED SOIL AND
FOR WATERS USE ONE GALLON OF THE CONTAMINATIONED WATER. THE CONTAMINATED SAMPLES
(CS) SHOULD BE OF THE HIGHEST CONTAMINATED CONCENTRATION.
STEP 2. SAVE A SMALL AMOUNT OF
THE CONTAMINATED SAMPLE (CS) FOR
LABORATORY ANALYZE TEST FOR
THE TPH LEVEL. MARK: “BEFORE TREATMENT
SAMPLE”.
STEP 3. SOILS OR SLUDGES: IF THE CS APPEARS TO HAVE A HIGH CONCENTRATION OF H-C, START THE
TEST
WITH SIX (6)
OUNCES OF THE AHPSP. MIX THE
AHPSP WITH WATER (A/W). SATURATE THE CS WITH
THE A/W. THE CS MUST BE TOTALLY SATURATED WITH THE
A/W. WAIT TWENTY (24) HOURS BEFORE
TAKING A
SAMPLE OF THE TREATED CS FOR THE LABORATORY TEST FOR THE TPH LEVEL.
MARK:
“AFTER TREATMENT SAMPLE NO. 1”
STEP 4. IF STEP 3 DOES NOT LOWER THE TPH TO THE
REQUIRED SPECIFIED LEVEL – REPEAT STEP 3 UNTIL
THE SPECIFIED TPH LEVEL IS MET BY ADDING ONE (1) OR TWO (2) OUNCES TO THE ORIGINAL CS.
MARK: “AFTER TREATMENT SAMPLE NO. 2”. REPEAT STEP 3.
UNTIL
THE SPECIFIED TPH LEVEL IS MET.
STEP 5. MULTIPLY
THE AMOUNT OF AHPSP REQUIRED PER. CUBIC FOOT TIMES THE CUBIC FEET TO BE
TREATED. THE ABOVE CONCEPT FOR SOILS CAN BE APPLIED
FOR CONTAMINATED WATERS, USING
SMALLER AMOUNTS OF THE AHPSP –
WHEN THE SPECIFIED TPH LEVEL IS MET, MULTIPLY THE AHPSP
PER. GALLON TIMES THE GALLONS TO
BE TREATED.
